Before committing his career full-time to the business rescue and turnaround space, Peter worked in production, design, project management, technology development and commercialization and business development in the minerals and mining environment.Exposure to turnarounds already from the early stages of his career.Solid experience in the publicly listed and unlisted environments with international investors, note holders, shareholders, lenders, and regulators/administrators within the Business Rescue context. China, Australia, Canada, USA, UK, Switzerland.

Dave brings over 30 years of extensive experience in investment banking and financial services, with two decades dedicated to corporate finance advisory, notably as a former Managing Director at NM Rothschild. Recognized as South Africa's Dealmaker of the Year in 2011, his expertise spans strategy formulation, M&A, restructuring, and capital raising. He has led advisory teams on numerous landmark South African transactions, including the acquisition of Absa by Barclays and Massmart by Walmart, and completed the Unisa course on Business Rescue Law, holding a license as a Senior Business Rescue Practitioner. He also serves as a non-executive director and advisor to a wide range of prominent companies.

Dean is a corporate finance executive and founding director of Birkett Stewart McHendrie. He is a UCT graduate and qualified Chartered Accountant who co-founded the business in 2015 after having served his accounting articles at EY followed by 4 years at Investec Bank’s Investment Banking and Corporate Finance division. Over the course of Dean’s corporate finance and advisory career, he has advised several clients, across numerous sectors, on the successful implementation and conclusion of multiple M&A transactions, capital raises, private equity transactions, IPOs, corporate restructurings and transaction services including independent financial due diligences and valuations. He is passionate about working with his clients and solving for complex matters that are presented in most transactions.

Shaun is a corporate finance executive and founding director of Birkett Stewart McHendrie. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst. Shaun co-founded the business in 2015 after having worked at Investec Bank Limited for seven years. Shaun has advised clients on a number of significant mergers and acquisitions, disposals, corporate restructures, capital raises, and listings, and has developed an expertise in the property sector.

Patrick is a corporate finance executive and founding director of Birkett Stewart McHendrie. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and co-founded the business in 2015 after having worked at AfrAsia and Investec Bank Limited. Patrick has advised clients on a number of significant mergers and acquisitions, IPO’s, private equity transactions, corporate restructurings and listings and has an in-depth knowledge of distressed M&A and the business rescue environment in South Africa.

Jacques Russouw is the Investment Principal at Birkett Stewart McHendrie, where he oversees the firm's investment division. He joined the company in 2024, bringing extensive experience from his previous role as a Senior Transactor in the private equity division at African Alliance, a multinational investment banking group. Prior to this, Jacques worked within Birkett Stewart McHendrie's corporate finance division and was involved with a boutique family office, where he focused on identifying and investing capital in both listed and private companies.

He is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having completed his articles with PwC in 2016.
